Local Cheeses and Cheese riots…

Recently a local cheese was resurrected (or whatever the appropriate term for would be for a cheese!).

The Colwick Cheese is indeed very tasty, but surely it was too soft to be the cheese which was bouncing down Wheeler Gate and Peck Lane during the 1766 Great Cheese Riot (although if contained in a small barrel, at which some sources hint…)?

So the mystery remains what cheese was used by the fine townspeople to knock out/over (the sources are contradictory on this detail) the mayor, but now we can contemplate it over a cracker spread with Colwick Cheese.
